Notice of Funding

Opportunity (NOFO)

What is NOFO?

The Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is a formal announcement—released twice a year—by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) about available federal funding. During the NOFO process, local coalitions review community performance, identify system gaps, and apply to renew funding for existing projects.

HUD also offers funding for new “bonus” projects based on national priorities, and anyone in the community is welcome to submit their intent to apply for these opportunities.

Due to court order, the 2026 CoC NOFO and its August 26, 2026 application submission deadline are no longer in force as HUD is unable to accept applications at this time.

HUD will communicate further guidance and additional updates as they become available.

Current Milwaukee Continuum of Care (CoC) Competitions

If any NEW HOUSING PROGRAM or SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROGRAM wishes to apply for CoC funding, an Intent to Apply form needs to be filled out and submitted.
